MATCHING SAFARI
UX/UI Concept: Kids Mobile Learning Game
A self-directed concept exploring early childhood UX, designed end-to-end to test how far simplicity and clarity can go when the user is four years old.
Overview
Matching Safari is a memory-matching game built for children ages 4 to 8, designed to teach animal names while building recognition and memory skills through play.
The Challenge
Design something a young child can pick up and understand instantly, with zero onboarding, while avoiding the overstimulation common in kids' apps.
The Idea
A bright, intuitive system built on color-coded interactions and simple animal illustrations, where the interface itself teaches the child how to play.
What I Did
Designed the full app experience, including game flow, UI, and interaction structure. Built a color-coded system, green for start and easy, red for off and advanced, so understanding doesn't depend on reading. Used Figma and Illustrator to design and prototype the full experience.
Outcome
A self-directed exploration of accessibility-first design thinking applied to one of the hardest audiences to design for: a child who can't yet read.
